GetInference AI for Marketing newsletter
AI pioneers ! hold on to your hats, because I'm revamping this newsletter with a fresh format featuring deep dives every week. Why, you ask? Well, I've realized that it's easier to spot trends and dish out insights when my posts follow a theme, rather than just covering a hodgepodge of AI marketing spotlights. So, without further ado, let's embark on this week's thrilling adventure! π€
The hype train has left the station β but are you on board? I hope not, because there's a chance you might end up in nowhereland! Luckily, you're already on the right track by reading this newsletter. Our topic du jour, de la semaine, and de l'annΓ©e is none other than AI agents.
As we chug along toward a future where autonomous agents are as common as layoffs, there'll be two major opportunities: creating autonomous agents for others to hire, or hiring them ourselves to amp up productivity in our personal or business lives. Early movers in developing or using autonomous agents will have a significant advantage over competitors who are stuck in the Stone Age β or the "manual labor" age, as I like to call it. One thing we all seem to run out of is time, and any chance to replace human effort, whether through ingenious system design, hiring someone else, or programming a machine, both frees up our time and lets us scale our output by doing more in parallel. In fact, this can be considered a core definition of technology and civilization:
βCivilization advances by extending the number of operations we can perform without thinking about themβ β Alfred North Whitehead.
Now, Auto GPT, our hype train conductor, is clearly an early mover, but is it too generic to be useful, or is there more than meets the eye? (Cue dramatic music πΆ)
AutoGPT inherits all of ChatGPT's issues and amplifies them like a game of "telephone." The main problem with using GPTs is misalignment, which snowballs with each prompt. If you start with a 95% chance of alignment and each prompt has a 5% chance of going rogue, by the 10th prompt, you're less than 60% likely to be aligned. It takes a whole bunch of prompts to get anything useful, making it as effective as a chocolate teapot. I tried to use it to create a niche app, and despite my expert guidance and tweaking, it just didn't take off. After about 40 prompts with GPT-4, it hadn't written any code and was on the verge of looping prompts. And that was with my help!
Will it have some uses? Perhaps. But with Moore's Law in its twilight and ML model performance plateauing, and considering that GPT-4 has already devoured the best training data like a ravenous beast, I'm skeptical it'll be more than a curiosity for the foreseeable future.
But wait! Venture into the GitHub repo (aka, the treasure trove of source code), and you'll find that, just like ChatGPT, AutoGPT offers plugins:
πͺAutoGPT can retrieve Twitter posts and related content through the v1.1 API using Tweepy.
πͺIt can connect your MetaTrader Account to Auto-GPT.
πͺ And for us marketing maestros, it connects to your Google Analytics Account.
No more fussing with the labyrinthine user interface of GA4. Just ask your friendly neighborhood AI agent about your audience and explore the outputβ¦
To sum it up: AI agents will truly shine when they're specialized.
The brilliant minds behind AutoGPT have clearly grasped the value of customization, allowing anyone to build plugins on top of their platform. Now, let's flip the script for a moment. If you're already using ChatGPT, why bother with AutoGPT? Surely there must be a way to combine the power of AutoGPT plugins with ChatGPT. Well, buckle up, because the future is now: Introducing the Mother of All Plugins: The ChatGPT Plugin for OpenAI API! π€ by @ruvnet (Link): It's like giving ChatGPT a double espresso shot! βοΈπ₯
This groundbreaking plugin effortlessly integrates ChatGPT with the OpenAI API, allowing you to harness the prowess of OpenAI's language models in creative and interactive ways, all within ChatGPT.
It's bananas! π I can now fully and automatically train custom OpenAI models using Stephen Wolfram's Wolfram plugin with a single prompt. Just by asking politely, like a well-mannered robot!
Other jaw-dropping examples include:
-Chain of Thought Marketing: Generate a marketing slogan for a new brand, create a marketing campaign based on the slogan, and then produce a series of promotional events β all using the OpenAI API.
-Creative Recipe and Poem: Fine-tune a language model to generate imaginative recipes, create a dish with specific dietary restrictions, and then whip up a poem about the dish.
-Math Equation Visualization: Generate a visual representation of a mathematical equation using the Wolfram Alpha plugin, then fine-tune a language model to describe mathematical visuals and generate a description of the visual representation.
Now, let's talk ChatGPT plugins. After testing a gazillion plugins and sharing my experiences on LinkedIn, I sensed a lot of FOMO β if not anger β about the fact that I had access to these nifty tools while others didn't.
So, first things first: if you want to try ChatGPT plugins, make sure to apply here: (Link)
Secondly, I will start sharing my findings on LinkedIn. Setting up a plugin isn't exactly a walk in the park, as it involves cloning the repo hosting the plugin into a server and running the server for ChatGPT to access the plugin. So, to spare you the headache, I'll be doing the legwork and sharing videos of the plugins in action. Make sure to follow me on LinkedIn if you haven't already!
One of the most mind-blowing experiences I've had so far was using the YouTube Persona Generator plugin. It analyzed a specific YouTube video's audience, providing detailed insights into their interests, demographics, and behavior. But wait, there's more! It even recommended additional videos that align with the audience's interests, complete with thumbnails and direct access to YouTube! It's like OpenAI is cooking up some secret sauce! π
To help you stay on the cutting edge of AI, I'm introducing a new offering called "Briefing" for teams of 3 to 20 people. I'll dedicate 90 minutes to brief companies and agencies via Zoom on these topics:
πChatGPT & Plugins - 90 minutes brief
πAI agents - 90 minutes brief
πAI for Audience Analysis - 90 minutes brief
πAI for Growth with Predictive modelling - 90 minutes brief
