How AI Girlfriends, Avatars, and Voice are Transforming Engagement and Brand Communication

GetInference AI for Marketing newsletter

Hello, hello, me! It's been a spell, hasn't it?

It seems the passage of time has accelerated since our last encounter. I've recently returned from a well-deserved keynote journey to Greece, after which I took the unorthodox decision of retreating from the incessant AI discourse that has filled every nook and cranny of our lives since December 2022.

A peculiar move, you might say, considering the constant tug-of-war between sound and substance in this field. But, in a surprising turn of events, I found a deeper sense of purpose in the silence, working diligently on my latest AI endeavor set to be unveiled in the upcoming week.

A curious thing happened during my quietude, a trickle of messages came pouring in, asking for the revival of my writing. It appears some of you missed my humble newsletter, leading me back to the conundrum of being a writer - how does one cram two weeks of happenings into a single newsletter?

Here's my valiant attempt:

It's apparent that AI has snuck its tendrils into entertainment and is subtly changing the landscape. The scramble to create AI assistants is akin to a high-stakes game of musical chairs, with each player eager to shape the blueprint for future AI interactions.

In a surprising twist, imagine the coupling of replicas and influencers birthing an intriguing phenomenon: AI girlfriends.

This trend underscores the transformation of AI engagement, indicating the rise of avatars in brand communications. This signal is important because it alludes to one of the primary ways we will engage with AI in the future, which is through avatars and voice, and not just for girlfriends. I think brands will also communicate their values, personality, purpose and drive engagement through these avatars. So META was largely wrong, but right about one thing: the future will be all about avatars: The fact that everyone and their mother is incorporating chat into their products will lead to a new wave of analysis

This will be incremental, from engagement that won't be possible with AI (i.e., "Just me" tasks), to delegated tasks, to centaur tasks, to automated tasks. I think within 2-5 years, the bulk of engagement with AI will be around relationships (b2c) and Centaur tasks (B2B).

Now we have to hope that these agents won't all be programmed like the Copilot agents ... A perspective on how future AGI co-workers, friends, and lovers will be "programmed". Learn More

In another corner of our AI universe, an old friend is making a triumphant return - voice. The range of applications is staggering, from building symbiotic relationships with influencers to turning our verbal ramblings into coherent transcriptions. But this homecoming isn't as smooth as one might think. The road to implementation is laden with thorny concepts such as web sockets, threading, parallel API calls, and gunicorn workers.

The stuff of nightmares for the uninitiated, but fear not, I've survived the ordeal and eagerly await sharing my creation soon.

Finally, the spectacle of Sam Altman's performance at the US congress mustn't be overlooked. An underwhelming three-hour showcase filled with softball questioning left everyone in a state of unease and uncertainty about the future of AI. It felt like a déjà vu, with tech magnates begging for regulation. With little to no attention given to AI's impact on jobs, one wonders, is it even possible to regulate AI? Drawing the curtains on these updates, you might wonder, how does this tie into the grand theme of this newsletter, "AI for Marketing"? To be honest, the connection may be tenuous at best, which is why a title change to "The AI Silent Practitioner" might be in order, maybe.

But let not your hearts be troubled, marketers. A fresh marketing section dedicated to you is coming right up.

The Magnificent World of Marketing and AI

This week, we have a trio of fascinating content to illuminate your understanding of the transformative power of AI in marketing:

  1. "AI: The Game-Changer in the Realm of Marketing". This enlightening article from media.monks.com is just the intel you need to stay ahead in the game.

  2. "New ChatGPT Code Interpreter: A Revolution in the Making!". A riveting watch that underscores why this interpreter isn't just a game-changer, but a whole new game. Get ready to be wowed here.

  3. Three is the magic number. Here are three dynamite ways to wield ChatGPT plugins for your marketing:

    • Video Insights: From Videos to Texts: The Video Insights plugin turns videos into text. This real-world example illustrates how I asked ChatGPT to draft a 600-word article based on insights from three AI and marketing-focused YouTube videos. While it wasn't a magnum opus, it was a more-than-serviceable first draft.

    • Zapier: The Ultimate Connector: The ChatGPT Zapier plugin brings the power of Zapier into the ChatGPT interface, allowing for seamless inter-app communication. Craft emails or Slack messages, send data straight to Google Sheets or Notion, or create article outlines that land directly in a Google Doc. It's a symphony of seamless integration.

    • Webpilot: Your SEO Co-Pilot: Webpilot's ChatGPT plugin offers a simplified approach to SEO-optimizing your content. Jesse Cunningham (YouTube channel link here) is the sage behind this enlightenment.
