Hey there, AI Pioneers!
What a week it's been in the world of AI marketing! I've been juggling two amazing projects at once, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results.
πFirst off, I had the pleasure of spending four days on the Isle of Man teaching pros at Standard Bank about the foundations of AI in business. We covered everything from supervised learning to predicting the future, and the feedback was incredible! It's always a joy to witness the "aha" moment when it all clicks into place.
πBut that's not all - I also released the first challenges of the GetInference Academy yesterday. The first challenge is all about mastering the art of prompting for ChatGPT, and let me tell you, it is a tough one! I challenge participants to write an above-the-fold headline that crystalizes the brand, value proposition, jobs to be done, and personas all in one line, and then use LLM sampling characteristics to predict the headline's memorability (it behaves like real participants of a survey)
Why? Because you only have 5 seconds to convince visitors to stay on your site, and that headline better pack a punch! To make sure the process was bulletproof, I asked participants to test their headline on usabilityhub.com for quick feedback from panels all over the world.
All in all, it was the perfect collaboration between humans and AI to deliver one of the hardest things in marketing.
But enough about me! Let's get to what you're here for - the spotlight and the remarkable tools of the past week (oh by the way, we just reached 4K combined subscribers to the newsletter)
SPOTLIGHT
π Get ready for this fantastic use case of fan engagement! Anghami, a streaming service, has teamed up with a music startup to create over 170k songs for football fans across the GCC region (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia). And the best part? The songs are AI-generated!
The promotion encourages listeners to pick their favorite team from the World Cup and then creates a personalized "cheer" for them based on their preferred music genre. According to Anghami's VP of product, Mohammed Ogaily, the team generated over 170k songs using three sets of lyrics, three talents, and 2,000 tracks generated by AI. They match each user with a cheer for their favorite team and ensure the song fits their music taste based on user data.
Anghami is already stirring up buzz in the music industry with its boast that it will soon host over 200k songs generated by AI, making it the first platform to do so. While this initiative is focused on promotion, rightsholders are keeping a close eye on Anghami to see what other plans it has for AI-generated music (Link)
π On the hot subject of Bingβ¦, a Stanford University student has discovered Bing chatbot's initial prompt that outlines its guiding principles for interacting with humans. The student used a prompt injection attack to uncover the information.
The initial prompt provides insights into how Microsoft designed Bing AI search to respond to human interactions. This story demonstrates the importance of ethical considerations when designing and implementing AI-powered systems. For more information on this story, check out Ars Technica (Link)
π Remember when we talked about the major issue of trust with large language models? Well, OpenAI is working on a solution with its Consensus project. OpenAI has traditionally relied on human feedback from data labellers to improve its language models. But, as Agarwal points out, the people doing this work may not be representative of the wider world. That's why the company wants to expand the viewpoints and perspectives that are represented in these models. And that's where the Consensus project comes in!
This experimental project is all about looking at how much people agree or disagree with different things generated by the AI model. For example, Agarwal notes that people may feel more strongly about answers to questions like "are taxes good" compared to "is the sky blue.". Surprising isnβt it π€£
It's great to see OpenAI taking steps to improve the reliability and trustworthiness of large language models by incorporating a wider range of viewpoints. Keep an eye out for more updates on the Consensus project!
π We've been hearing a lot of complaints from artists about AI art generators stealing their work. But, here's some good news: researchers at the University of Chicago have developed a new tool called Glaze that could help protect artists' work! Glaze is designed to add a cloak to images that prevents AI models from learning an artist's specific style. This cloak is invisible to the human eye but distorts the way AI models analyze the image, which means they won't be able to copy an artist's style.
This is a great step forward in protecting artists' intellectual property and ensuring that their hard work and creativity are properly recognized. It's reassuring to know that technology can be used to protect artists' rights, and we're excited to see more developments in this area. (The New York Times)
π I recently attended the launch of Water and Music Season 3 on Friday and learnt about a technique that could help protect artists' music from being used in training by AI systems.
The technique involves adding an invisible watermark to the audio file metadata, which would act as a sort of unique identifier for the music. This would make it more difficult for AI systems to replicate an artist's style and prevent their work from being stolen.
It's great to see that there are solutions being developed to protect artists' intellectual property and creativity. As they say, every problem has a solution, and it's just a matter of time until we find it (Link)
And for our final spotlight of the week, we have two exciting developments to share!
π First up, we have the world's first book-to-videogame platform, which is powered by NLP AI and a global community of 3D creators. This groundbreaking platform has the potential to forever change the way we create and play games. This innovative use of AI demonstrates how it can be used to enhance and enrich our experiences in ways we never imagined (Link)
π In other news, we have a bit more insights into ChatGPT's meteoric rise. The actual number of monthly active users might be closer to 50 million, according to Ben Thompson, it's still a testament to the growing popularity and potential of AI-powered chatbots.
