This week, we're diving into the world of AI agents! The topic has sparked quite the debate recently, and I experienced it firsthand this morning with none other than PayPal. For ages, I've been subscribed to PayPal Pro, but I decided it was time to switch to Stripe. I was dreading the process, knowing all too well the complexities of PayPal's customer support (to put it mildly). However, the PayPal assistant agent was a pleasant surprise. It resembled a typical customer service chat, but it identified and canceled the transaction in a flash, even thanking me for the cancellation. I almost felt guilty for leaving PayPal (not really, though). This serves as a prime example of AI agents in action. In the spotlights below, I explore the topic further, along with the future of entertainment, AI avatars as agents on YouTube, and how to use ChatGPT to win the lottery!

👉 "I Used ChatGPT and Won the Lottery. No Joke": I prompted ChatGPT to generate one random number between 1-45 and another between 1-20 for a lottery game. I did this five times for five different combinations, as a standard ticket allows five plays. And guess what? I got 3+1 numbers correct, and the other two were off by just one number! Perhaps there was an underlying number pattern that the AI algorithm understood but I didn't (Link)

👉 Agents: We've surpassed "AI models can write blog posts" and entered "How human-like can AI models be?" territory. Generative agents start their day, work, engage in creative pursuits, form opinions, interact, and even remember and reflect on previous experiences. The pace is rapid. Read the paper (Link).

👉 Are autonomous AI Agents the next step towards AGI? Recently, there's been a surge in GPT-powered autonomous agents, like BabyAGI by Yohei Nakajima, a venture capitalist, which uses GPT-4 and Pinecone for memory to autonomously create and execute tasks, and Microsoft's JARVIS, inspired by Iron Man's fictional AI assistant. JARVIS, like BabyAGI, uses OpenAI’s GPT for task coordination and more specialized HuggingFace models for tasks like asking ChatGPT to draw itself using StableDiffusion. With one billion knowledge workers worldwide, every worker could have an AI copilot within the next 3-5 years (Link)
